A career at Cupertino Electric, Inc. is an opportunity to work for one of the country’s most successful electrical contracting firms. We offer an extensive career development program that gives you the tools and training required to succeed in electrical construction and prepare you to be a top performer here with us.
We recruit all majors but concentrate on construction management, electrical engineering and industrial technology students. We are currently recruiting for Project Managers, Estimators and Engineers.
Internships/Co-Ops
Our internship and co-op programs provide a snapshot of what it is like to work at CEI. Internships and co-ops provide an opportunity for students to experience life as a CEI employee, learn and work on electrical construction projects, meet CEI employees, and see the company culture first-hand. Students are rotated through our primary training and development departments: Estimating, Project Management, and Operations/Production. While in each department, they are trained and mentored by experienced Estimators; Project Engineers, Managers, and Executives; and Superintendent.
Our goal for students is that by the end of an internship or co-op, they will walk away with knowledge about electrical contracting, CEI's role in the construction industry, and if CEI is the place where they want to have a career.
Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Student Competition
Each year, the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) invites Construction Management majors from ASC member universities to form student teams and compete against one another on construction "problems" related to a construction category. Regional and national categories include: Heavy Civil, Commercial, Residential, Design Build, Multi-Family, Graduate, Mechanical, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Marine, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Preconstruction, and Defining Problem Risk (DPR) - a new category in 2009. CEI was also awarded the opportunity to sponsor another new category: the National Electrical Problem was added in 2009, being only the second speciality contractor category at the ASC Student Competition.
The 22nd Annual ASC Student Competition held in 2009 in Reno, Nevada had the largest student participation to date, hosting 1,130 students on 170 teams from 38 universities and 15 states.
CEI and the National Electrical Problem had a successful first year of competition. We look forward to future competitions, continued support of ASC, and our commitment to continued support of the industry through events like the ASC Student Competition and the sponsorship of a National Electrical Problem.
